A presto
2009 Rick & Susie, Folsom, California We spent 4 nights at the Borgo. This was our second trip to Italy. We stayed in hotels on our first trip, so this time we wanted to get back in touch with the Italian countryside. We had read so many wonderful reviews about the Borgo that we knew that we just had to stay there. Marilisa and Ricardo (the owners) have restored an old abandoned church property and through their hard work and determination have created a beautiful, peaceful retreat that surrounds you with the beauty of the Umbrian countryside and a warm hospitality that can’t be matched. Marilisa and her staff take care of your every need and the meals that Ricardo prepares are both memorable and so delicious that you won’t want to go anywhere else for dinner. Our room was spacious, quiet and peaceful and the views from the windows of the green hillsides mixed with the colors of fall were a pleasure to the eye. It was so pleasurable to return to the Borgo in the afternoon knowing that Marilisa and her staff awaited you with tea and biscuits, followed by delicious and surprising (thank you Ricardo!) appetizers. All of this followed by a much anticipated, gourmet dinner served in the dining room just a few short steps from your room. Great food, great wine and great company, its bliss! In those 4 days the hardest thing that we had to do was leave the Borgo. At check-out time, the mind is saying that we have to go, but the heart is saying – NO, we don’t want to ever leave! We will be back and very soon.
2009 Barbara and Michael - Australia Dear Marilisa and Riccardo We have just returned from our long trip overseas arriving back in Sydney to the heat of summer. Michael and I just wanted to say a huge thank you for the most wonderful stay we had with you in Carpiano. It was the highlight of our trip – your generous hospitality, your most beautiful Borgo and Riccardo’s unbelievably delicious meals. You should be very proud of what you have achieved in your little paradise in Umbria. We, together with Judy and Ron, agree that it was the best experience we have ever had on our many trips to Italy. We will never forget our time with you and hopefully we will return again – next time in summer so that we can make use of the garden and the pool. Thank you again and hope we can meet again, either in Umbria or Australia. With best wishes
2009 Eileen and Michael G. This place is a real gem. After a long drive from Venice, we arrived at the Borgo in the late afternoon to be greeted by soft music, hot tea and delicious cookies in the beautiful old church. We were welcomed by Marilisa and shown our spacious room. What a charming place! It's so off the beaten path and after having spent the week prior in Rome, Florence, and Venice, it was the perfect place to be. Set on the side of a hill with a spectacular view of the hills of Umbria, we could not have been more pleased with the location. After unpacking and relaxing, we went downstairs to the dining room where the other guests were mingling around the fireplace (it was cool out, so it felt great!) with drinks and hors d'oeuvres. Riccardo is a wonderful chef; our two dinners at the Borgo, as well as our two breakfasts, were absolutely the best meals we had in all of Italy during our two weeks there. We highly recommend the Borgo to anyone who wants wonderful food, beautiful accommodations, lovely views and surrounding countryside, and friendly and attentive hosts. Also, Umbria has so many cute little towns - it felt like Tuscany used to feel before it was overrun by tourists. Our two nights at the Borgo were the most enjoyable of our entire trip!
2009 Ted and Jane Smith, Minneapolis, MN My wife and I traveled to Italy this past September. Our travel included Rome, Tuscany and the Umbria region of Italy. Rome and Tuscany was great. However, the highlight of our trip was staying at Borgo Di Carpiano. It was exactly what we hoped. A relaxing and enjoyable break from the "hustle and bustle". The facility is off the beaten path, set in a wonderful location with wonderful views of the country. Great service and great food every evening. You feel as though you have escaped to your own villa with your own private staff to take care of you. We met great people from Italy and the US and upon our return to Italy will return to Borgo Di Carpiano. Ted and Jane Smith
